Relentless Rains Batter Chennai City on Red Alert

Heavy rain in Chennai

Chennai has been hit by extremely heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, with non-stop downpours, thunderstorms and strong winds disrupting normal life.

The Nungambakkam observatory recorded over 172 mm of rain, the highest this season, while Meenambakkam logged 90 mm.

A red alert has been issued for the next 24 hours, and all schools and colleges remain closed.
