Safety Dos and Don's
Monsoon and Electricity

Electrocution Safety

It was raining heavily in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, when a 16-year-old girl was electrocuted after accidentally touching a live wire on a light pole. During the rainy season, our responsibility is to ensure our safety.

Safety tips: dos and don'ts!

Dos:

  • Be aware of weather updates and rainfall patterns in the area. Electric hazards are more likely to occur during heavy rainfall.
  • Ensure that all repairs and maintenance are completed well in advance of rainy weather.
  • Keep all electrical connections, such as sockets, switches, and circuit breakers, dry at all times.

Don'ts

  • Flooded streets should be avoided during heavy rain. Electrocution may occur due to hidden live electrical wires or submerged outlets.
  • Whenever working with live electrical components, keep a safe distance from them.
  • Do not attempt to repair electrical faults or systems yourself unless you are a qualified electrician. Accidents can be caused by untrained interventions. Electrical installations or repairs should always be handled by a professional.
  • Electrical surges and power fluctuations are common during the monsoon season. Avoid overloading electrical circuits by plugging in too many devices simultaneously to minimize the risk of electrical fires or short circuits.

Taking care of your safety is your responsibility!
