October 2025 Rainfall
Why Was October So Rainy?

Dual system along the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal brought in heavy rain in the month of October

October 2025 saw unusually heavy rainfall across India. One key reason: a persistent low-pressure/depression over the Arabian Sea that brought inland showers and delayed the withdrawal of monsoon winds.

Additionally, Cyclone Montha formed over the Bay of Bengal and made landfall late October, dragging moisture inland and triggering heavy rain in regions like Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh.

As a result, many western states such as Gujarat reported record-wet October days, with large swathes of talukas receiving sustained downpours and temperatures dropping.

A convergence of active depressions, delayed monsoon withdrawal and enhanced atmospheric moisture made October far rainier than usual.
