4.7 Magnitude Quake in Myanmar

A 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar today, with tremors felt across parts of Northeast India including Manipur, Nagaland, and Assam.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the quake’s epicenter was in Myanmar, near the India-Myanmar border.

People in several towns reported mild shaking, but no major damage or injuries have been reported so far. The tremors created brief panic, with some residents rushing outdoors.

Northeast India lies in Seismic Zone V

The country’s most earthquake-prone zone, making states like Manipur, Nagaland, and Assam highly vulnerable to frequent tremors from nearby fault lines in Myanmar and the Himalayas.

Authorities are monitoring the situation, though experts say no aftershocks of significant intensity are expected.

Residents are advised to stay alert but not alarmed, as normalcy has returned after the mild seismic activity.
