It’s monsoon and floods are now unfortunately an imminent danger of the season.

There is a difference in tips for emergency preparedness for urban and rural areas, however there are a few general points for people living in low-lying areas and locations prone to flooding:

  • Start monitoring the rain activity daily. You can use the Weather&Radar India Rain Radar and receive heavy rain and thunderstorm notifications for floods in advance. Being informed and informing your friends and relatives is extremely important.

Go to Settings in the App to activate weather notifications for your area!

  • Prepare a kit with your most important documents as well as valuables and pack them in a water-proof folder. Keep it reachable & on a certain height in your house.
  • Let a friend or family member know, that you might come to them in case of emergency. Be sure to keep their contact details as hard copy.
  • Know how to call for help in your area, keep the emergency numbers ready and do not hesitate to call!
  • Keep your mobile phone charged at all times. Also keep a separate torch light with batteries ready.
