Delhi Lashed by Rain and Thunderstorms

Severe thunderstorms and heavy rains battered Delhi-NCR early today, disrupting flights and road traffic.

Winds exceeding 80 km/h uprooted trees and damaged power lines, with unconfirmed reports of casualties.

Safdarjung recorded 77mm rainfall, the second-highest ever for May. Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and central Delhi saw similar deluges.

This morning’s downpour has already surpassed Delhi’s monthly May average of 29.4mm. A western disturbance and an east-west trough are driving this unstable weather, expected to continue till 7th May.
