Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Rohtang : Season’s First Snowfall

The first snowfall of 2025 has turned the Western Himalayas into a winter wonderland.

Popular hill stations like Gulmarg and Sonmarg in Jammu & Kashmir and Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh have been blanketed in snow, marking the early onset of winter.

Tourists and locals woke up to stunning white landscapes as temperatures dipped sharply below normal. The snowfall follows recent rain and a western disturbance moving across the region.

More light snow is expected in higher altitudes over the next few days.

Travel restrictions are in place in some areas due to slippery roads, but this first spell has boosted excitement for the upcoming tourist season in northern hill destinations.
