A weakened low-pressure area over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Southeast Uttar Pradesh is expected to keep monsoon conditions active.

Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at a few places, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.

Areas including Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Jhansi, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Satna, Khajuraho and Sidhi could receive significant rainfall. Sidhi and Hardoi recorded more than 100 mm of rain during the past 24 hours.

Localized flooding and waterlogging may occur in low-lying areas. Rainfall intensity is expected to decrease towards the weekend as the system weakens. Another weather system may develop near the Bay of Bengal around August 23, bringing increased rainfall mainly across eastern India.
