The southwest monsoon arrived in Mumbai earlier than ever this year, over two weeks ahead of the usual 11th June date.

It started with heavy rain—44 mm in 24 hours at Santacruz and nearly 100 mm in Colaba over two days. But after that, the rain stopped and has stayed quiet for the past five days.

The dry spell is expected to continue as the usual weather patterns that bring rain—like offshore troughs, strong winds, or low-pressure areas—are missing.

Monsoon activity is weak along most of the West Coast, except for a few spots in Goa and Coastal Karnataka.

A new weather system is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal around 10th June and may strengthen by midweek. If that happens, rain could return to Kerala by 11th June and reach Mumbai around 15th June, bringing back active monsoon conditions.
