Dangers of Lightning
Odisha leads in Lightning Strikes

Lightning in Odisha

According to the records of WeatherRadar, it is East India and Eastern Coast of India that lead in the number of lightning strikes. Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal have had the maximum of lightning strikes as of March 1st, 2021. Bihar leads the tragic statistics of lightning deaths.

The months of May, June and September account for the highest concentration of lightning due to the monsoon season.

Lightning can be very dangerous and the most common cause of death during a lightning strike is still standing under a tree. Farmers are also much more exposed to lightning than other sections and need to exercise more care.

It has been our endeavor at Weather & Radar app to warn our users about lightning via localized notifications as well as early lightning forecast. Lightning deaths or injuries are absolutely avoidable and all of us should exercise caution and be careful!
