Severe Cyclone Hamoon
West Bengal Braces for Intense Weather

Cyclone Hamoon Makes Landfall

Cyclonic storm Hamoon has grown stronger as it moved northeast at 21 kmph over the Northwest Bay of Bengal.

Hamoon might become a very severe cyclone briefly on the afternoon of October 24th but is expected to weaken to a severe cyclonic storm by the evening of the same day.

It's likely to make landfall near Chittagong, Bangladesh, as a cyclonic storm on the afternoon of October 25th, with wind speeds of 65 to 75 kmph, gusting up to 90 kmph.

Our advice!

While the cyclone may weaken, it's vital for Indian coastal communities to remain cautious, stay away from the coast, and safeguard lives and property during the next 48 hours.

Moderate to heavy rainfall has already begun in parts of Gangetic West Bengal and southern Bangladesh. Coastal areas in West Bengal and Bangladesh will experience rough to very rough sea conditions for the next 48 hours, and some parts of southern Bangladesh may face inundation.

While Hamoon will lose some strength before landfall, it's crucial to stay away from coastal areas and take precautions for your safety and property over the next 48 hours.
