The southwest monsoon withdrawal is expected to accelerate after a brief pause.

The monsoon has already retreated from Delhi and parts of northwest India. From October 2-3, dry northwesterly winds could help push the withdrawal further across the country.

The monsoon may soon retreat from parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, with complete withdrawal from India possible by October 12.

Meanwhile, mostly dry weather is expected across much of India over the next ten days. Rainfall is likely to remain concentrated over parts of South India and the extreme Northeast.
