Montha to Intensify, Landfall near Andhra coast

Cyclonic Storm Montha over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Tuesday, 28 October.

Landfall is currently indicated near Kakinada, between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, during the evening or night.

Red alerts are in place for parts of Andhra Pradesh, with preparedness stepped up in Odisha; spells of rain are also expected over Tamil Nadu and south Bengal.

Sea conditions will be rough to very rough; fishermen are advised to avoid the Bay of Bengal.

Residents should follow official advisories, secure loose items, and avoid coastal travel during adverse periods.
