After a prolonged dry spell, Delhi is witnessing an active phase of the southwest monsoon.

Widespread rain and thundershowers have returned as favourable weather systems continue to influence Northwest India.

So far this July, Safdarjung has recorded 138.1 mm of rainfall against the monthly average of 195.8 mm, with more rain expected in the coming days.

A Western Disturbance, along with multiple cyclonic circulations, has shifted the monsoon trough closer to Delhi, keeping moisture levels high across the region.

Rain and thundershowers are expected to continue through the weekend and into early next week. Some spells may be heavy, raising the risk of waterlogging and traffic disruptions in low-lying areas.

Cloudy skies will also keep daytime temperatures pleasant, with maximums hovering around 32°C.
