Rainy Spell to Impact Assam Poll Day

Pre-monsoon activity is set to intensify over Northeast India this week, with Assam and Meghalaya already recording excess rainfall.

The surplus is expected to rise further as widespread showers continue. On April 9, polling day in Assam, intermittent rain may disrupt activities, especially during early morning, late afternoon, and nighttime hours.

Multiple weather systems, including cyclonic circulations over Assam, Bangladesh, and North Bihar, along with moist winds from the Bay of Bengal, are driving this activity.

Lower Assam districts like Guwahati, Barpeta, and Silchar face higher risk of thunderstorms and heavy showers.

Rainfall will peak during evening and night, with lighter spells in the morning. Residents are advised to stay cautious during lightning and thunderstorms.
