Red Alert!
Southern Tamil Nadu Flooded

Tamil Nadu Floods

Southern Tamil Nadu faced unprecedented heavy rainfall, with some areas experiencing all-time record highs in the past 24 hours.

Coastal regions were severely affected, disrupting normal life, including transportation. The intense downpour, exceeding 400mm in 24 hours, surpassed model predictions.

Notably, Palayankottai recorded an all-time high of 442mm. The cyclonic circulation, moving westward from South Sri Lanka, is expected to persist, bringing more heavy rains to specific areas.

The ongoing wet spell poses challenges for rescue operations and increases the risk of waterlogging. Relief is anticipated as the system moves towards Maldives and Lakshadweep, promising improved weather conditions in the affected regions over the next week.
