Supermoon rises on Bonfire Night - Largest full moon of the year

Wednesday is the day: it's full moon. That's why our Earth's companion is shining brightly in the sky these days. But it is also special in its own way.

The November full moon is the largest this year and is therefore a so-called "supermoon" because the moon is currently almost 30,000 kilometres closer to Earth than average.

However, the difference in size compared to a normal full moon is hardly noticeable. At best, it appears brighter than usual.

Sky watchers across India can witness the last and brightest supermoon of 2025 tonight, November 5.

The best time to watch is just after sunset, when the moon rises on the eastern horizon. People in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata can see it clearly if skies are not cloudy.
