The Indian subcontinent is surrounded by water on all the three sides. Having a port catering to all the trade needs in both Arabian sea and the Bay of Bengal is imperative. But which one is the largest in South India?

The Chennai Port (former Madras Port) is the largest port on the Bay of Bengal coastline. It is ranked 2nd behind JNPT in terms of container thoroughfare in India.

Did you know that severe storms of 1868 and 1872 prevented the operations of the early port? Try out our WindRadar to check the speed of the winds along the coastline!
