Mumbai Rains
Wettest May in Over a Century

The southwest monsoon made its earliest entry into India this year, hitting Kerala on 24th May and rapidly advancing to Mumbai by 26th May, its earliest arrival in 35 years.

Fueled by a depression over the Arabian Sea, the monsoon brought record-breaking rainfall to Mumbai.

Colaba recorded 455 mm, surpassing the previous May record from 1918, while Santacruz reported 334.7 mm.

Typically dry in May, the city faced intense downpours for over 24 hours. While rainfall will now reduce, intermittent showers and overcast skies are expected.

Another circulation off the Konkan coast may keep rains active, but the worst seems to be over for now.
