What's Happening?
Mumbai's Battle with Air Pollution

AQI levels in Mumbai

Maharashtra is likely to get hit by another heatwave. In Mumbai, the air quality is poor due to stagnant winds from the coast.

Residents of the cities will have to become familiar with the concept of pay to breathe. Why? There has consistently been a deficit of AQI in the area, posing a serious threat to those who live here.

City residents have blamed industrial pollution and pollution from construction works, but that's not all.

This condition is caused equally by the stagnant wind along the coast and the lack of wind activity from the Bay of Bengal.

There have been numerous emergency room visits due to breathing issues and lung-related problems caused by the unpredictable weather and unprecedented levels of pollution in the city.

Staying indoors as much as possible, using air purifiers, breathing steam once or twice a day, and only going outside when necessary are recommendations from doctors.

In the monsoon season, light to moderate rains could improve air quality. However, light drizzle could lower the quality by absorbing pollutants and producing smog.

Are we going to see any changes in the city in the coming days?
