Why East Coast Temperatures Remain Lower

A clear weather contrast is being observed between India’s East and West Coasts.

While the West Coast is witnessing rising temperatures and early summer-like heat, the East Coast continues to record relatively lower day temperatures around 30–31°C.

Cities such as Chennai, Puducherry and Visakhapatnam are experiencing subdued heat compared to Mumbai and Coastal Karnataka.

The main reason is the presence of an anticyclonic circulation over central parts of the country.

This system is pushing moist northeasterly winds from the Bay of Bengal toward the East Coast.

These winds help control daytime heating and prevent temperatures from rising sharply. In contrast, dry conditions dominate the West Coast.

No significant rainfall is expected along the East Coast in the coming days.
