India boasts of highly versatile writing on various aspects of weather. Most of the books deal with rains, since they are essential to sustain agriculture and water supply.

Today is World Book and Copyright Day and we bring you a selection of Indian books written about our climate and relationship with weather.

  • Though meant primarily for children, Waiting for the Rain (Tamil/English) by Kamakshi Balasubramanian is a book which can teach a thing or two to all of us in regard to respect of soil and difficulties of a farmer!
  • Dr. Ravi Prakash Arya is a renowned Vedic Scholar. He analyzed and compiled different methods of rainmaking attempts from the Vedic times to the present in his book Vedic Meteorology: Vedic Science of Weather Modification.
