Rajkot and Surendranagar recorded the country’s highest temperature at 41.6°C, nearly 8°C above normal.

Cities like Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Deesa, Amreli, Baroda, and Surat are also extremely hot. The spike is due to dry winds replacing the usual sea breeze after changes in wind patterns.

This heat spell is expected to persist until the weekend, with no immediate relief likely across the state.
