Cyclone Senyar Developing Over BoB

A rapidly intensifying system over the Bay of Bengal is on track to become Cyclone Senyar, the second named storm of this post-monsoon season.

Originating near the Strait of Malacca, the system has strengthened while moving west-northwest into the southeast Bay.

Forecast models remain divided, suggesting either a Tamil Nadu–Andhra Pradesh coastal track or an offshore curve by Nov 29–30.

Heavy to very heavy rain is battering southern Tamil Nadu, with Oothu recording 23 cm and Nalumukku 22 cm.

Schools remain closed in multiple districts, including Madurai, Thoothukudi, and Trichy. The Andaman Islands, Kerala, and coastal Andhra are also on alert.

The next 48 hours will be crucial to determine Cyclone Senyar’s exact path and intensity.
