The ongoing snow has significantly reduced visibility and made roads extremely slippery along the Srinagar–Leh highway.

Authorities report that several stretches near the Zojila axis are hazardous for vehicles due to snow accumulation and icy surfaces.

Precautionary measures

Drivers have been advised to use anti-skid chains and avoid unnecessary travel in the region.

Officials are closely monitoring the situation and regulating traffic to prevent accidents. Zojila, a key mountain pass connecting Kashmir with Ladakh, often faces disruptions during snowfall because of its high altitude and steep terrain.

If snowfall continues, temporary road closures and travel advisories may be issued to ensure commuter safety.
