The depression is expected to cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram, near Puducherry, on November 30.

Winds of 45-55 km/h, gusting to 65 km/h, are anticipated, with coastal towns like Puducherry, Karaikal, and Cuddalore likely to face the brunt.

Though the depression struggles to intensify into a cyclone due to unfavorable conditions, the IMD has warned of a last-minute chance for it to develop into a cyclone before landfall.

While Chennai lies slightly outside the depression’s core impact zone, areas like Mahabalipuram and Kancheepuram will experience heavy showers.

Interior regions of Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, and Karnataka will also face significant rainfall, with the system possibly moving westward into Kerala. Residents are urged to prepare for adverse weather as the situation develops.
