Taking Images during Adverse Weather

Selfie StormYour safety should be your first priority!

We all love taking and sharing photos. It is even more exciting when we manage to capture something extraordinary. However, we advise you to keep your safety as first priority while clicking snaps in adverse weather.

Photographing severe weather is dangerous. Lightning strikes kill some 2,000 Indians on average every year, according to official data.

Here are a few reminders of Do's and Don'ts when taking images during thunderstorms, cyclones or lightning strikes.

  • Don't act like a hero. Severe weather in real life can damage your health irreparably. Don't underestimate nature's force.
  • Pay attention to warnings! If authorities issue an orange or red alert, then it is not the time for photos, but for ensuring the safety of your family and property. Check the forecast, read the news and activate thunderstorm alerts on Weather & Radar app to stay up to date!
  • Do not enter flood water as it can hide hazards such as open manhole covers, potholes or cables.
  • If you are driving and saw an appealing scene outside, make sure you park your vehicle properly and the safety of the passengers and other drivers is guaranteed.
  • Beware of flying debris during a storm. They can hit you while you are looking for that great shot!

And remember your safety is much more precious than even the most brilliant image you can capture. Do not risk it!
