Music of Indian Winters

Music Winter India

Foggy evenings, hot chai, warm clothes and the snow capped mountains of Kashmir - winter inspires music all over India.

Winter is different across the country: Northern and Eastern India is covered with thick mist and temperatures can go to sub-zero in many regions.

Southern states as well as North-East experience Northeast monsoon followed by crispy dry, but cool months. Western states get a respite from both the summer heat and monsoon downpours.

But wherever you live, you will surely enjoy listening to these winter marvels!

Old Hindi Classic by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar Uff Kitni Thandi Hai Ye Ruth from Amarjeet’s Teen Deviyan (1961) drowns us in a mystical and sensual feeling of the winter season.

Experiencing snow for the first time ever amidst the pristine beauty of Kashmir mountains makes Pudhu Vellai Mazhai from Mani Ratnam’s Roja (1992) one of the most touching songs about snow!

Yeh ishq hai from Jab We Met was shot at Rohtang Pass in Manali, Himachal Pradesh and became an instant super hit!
