Andhra Coast Braces for Landfall

Cyclonic storm 'Michaung,' now intensified into a severe cyclonic storm, is approaching South Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Having already crossed east of Chennai, it is currently positioned 120km east-northeast of the city. The storm brought extremely heavy rains to north coastal Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh.

Chennai recorded 230mm at Nungambakkam and 250mm at Meenambakkam airport in the past 24 hours. As it moves northward, Michaung is expected to peak in intensity this evening with winds exceeding 110kmph.

Landfall is anticipated between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM tomorrow, with a likely crossing near Bapatla. Post-landfall, it may recur northeastward, affecting Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Odisha. Stay safe!
