Delhi/NCR experienced its first foggy morning of the season, with areas like Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad blanketed in moderate to dense fog.

Visibility at Palam dropped to zero for an hour and stayed below 100 meters for over three hours, while Safdarjung also saw dense fog patches.

However, Palam’s runway visual range was over 1000 meters, meaning flight operations were less affected.

This foggy weather followed Kashmir's first snowfall of the season, which brought a slight chill, higher humidity, and favorable winds across North India, leading to dense fog that disrupted road and air traffic in areas like Amritsar, Chandigarh, and Ambala.

But where is the chill?

Despite the fog, Delhi's winter chill remains delayed due to persistent warm temperatures. Safdarjung recorded a minimum of 17°C, which is about 4°C above normal.

Another western disturbance is expected to bring more snow to Kashmir's high peaks and rain to lower regions like Srinagar and foothill areas like Jammu and Chandigarh.

Following this disturbance, cooler winds may reach Delhi and North India's plains, causing temperatures to dip slightly over the weekend. By early next week, Delhi’s minimum temperature may drop to around 14°C, approaching the season’s lowest.
