Damaging Cold for Vineyards
Farmers Fight Frost with Fire in France

Vineyards in France are ablaze with light as winemakers seek to fight damaging frosts.

In Central Europe, there has been little sign of spring weather with temperatures above 15 degrees. In France, there was night frost practically all over the country at the beginning of the week.

The cold spell affected fruit and wine growers in many regions of the country. They tried to keep the frost away from the sensitive blossoms with fires in the vineyards or with sprinkling.

Only last year, night frost in the spring had caused massive damage to French fruit and wine growers.
