September Weather
Heavy Rain Unlikely in Mumbai

Weather in Mumbai likely to remain dry

Mumbai is likely to see mostly light and brief showers in the coming days, with no major revival of monsoon rainfall expected until at least mid-September.

The weather system that earlier developed over the Bay of Bengal has remained too far from Mumbai to significantly increase rainfall along the city’s coastline. Conditions such as a strong offshore trough and active monsoon westerlies, which typically bring heavy rain to Mumbai, are also currently absent.

Parts of the Konkan region, particularly Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri and Raigad, may continue to receive moderate showers. Mumbai, however, is expected to see only mild monsoon activity.

After a rain-heavy July, rainfall has weakened considerably since the second half of August. A stronger revival may therefore have to wait until later in September.
