Kerala is celebrating Thiruvonam, under cloudy and rainy conditions, with showers expected across several parts of the state.

The IMD has placed Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam under a yellow alert for isolated heavy rainfall today. Rain or thundershowers are also likely across many other parts of Kerala.

The wet spell is linked to a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions. Rainy conditions are expected to continue across Kerala in the coming days.

With Onam celebrations and outdoor activities underway, residents should be prepared for sudden showers.

Heavy spells could cause localised waterlogging, reduced visibility and slower traffic, while hilly areas may face an increased risk of landslides.
