India’s Monsoon 2025 Twist

2025 monsoon so far has been uneven.

While central regions like Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are receiving heavy rains, areas such as Bihar, Marathwada, and Rayalaseema are facing significant deficits, with rainfall 38–50% below normal.

This shortfall is impacting farmers, leading to concerns about crop health and potential resowing.

In contrast, cities like Kolkata have experienced substantial rainfall, with 152 mm recorded in early July.

Looking ahead, moderate rains are expected in Bihar, but Marathwada and Rayalaseema may continue to see dry conditions.

Northeastern states like Sikkim and Meghalaya are also receiving less rain, which could affect agriculture and water resources.
