Intense Heat Likely to Ease This Week

Heat in Delhi expected to rise in the coming days. Day time temperatures expected to remain over 40 degrees

Delhi/NCR continues to experience scorching heat with day temperatures hovering between 43°C and 44°C.

Though temperatures remain 3°C-4°C above normal, they have stayed below 45°C and therefore do not officially qualify as heat wave conditions.

The city had earlier recorded its warmest night in 14 years on May 24, when Safdarjung logged a minimum temperature of 32.4°C. Conditions have improved slightly now, with morning temperatures returning closer to normal.

A major weather change is expected from May 28 onward as a fresh western disturbance approaches North India.

Thunderstorms, dust storms, gusty winds, and scattered rain are likely between May 28 and 31. Temperatures are expected to drop sharply into the mid-30s, bringing much-needed relief from the prolonged spell of extreme heat across the capital.
