So far, the Bay of Bengal has been relatively quiet. But now, as the monsoon slowly draws to an end, activity is beginning to increase.

An area of low pressure is expected to develop over the weekend. In the following days, it is forecast to strengthen further while moving west-northwestward towards Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

By the beginning of next week, the system could continue developing, reaching tropical depression strength.

This will be particularly relevant for parts of eastern and central India with heavier rainfall moving in with increased lightning activity, as well as the south.
