Monsoon Damages in Himachal

Himachal Pradesh has seen a sharp rise in monsoon-related fatalities, with the State Disaster Management Authority reporting 173 deaths between June 20 and July 31.

Of these, 95 resulted from rain‑related events such as landslides and flash floods, while 78 occurred in road accidents.

Disruptions to essential services are widespread: hundreds of roads remain blocked, and many electricity transformers and water supply schemes are down, especially in Mandi, Kullu and Chamba districts.

Authorities have issued yellow and orange alerts across vulnerable zones, urging residents to avoid travel and heed safety advisories.

Recovery and restoration operations continue, with state and central agencies coordinating rescue efforts and infrastructure rehabilitation.
