The long wait for the Southwest Monsoon is likely to end soon as it is expected to advance into Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next few days.

Delayed by nearly 10 days, the monsoon is now gaining momentum due to a cyclonic circulation over eastern Uttar Pradesh and moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal.

Scattered rain is expected to begin over eastern Uttar Pradesh from June 30, with rainfall intensifying on July 1.

By July 2, widespread showers are likely across both states, with isolated heavy rain at some places.

The rainfall will bring relief from heat, improve soil moisture, and support sowing of Kharif crops such as paddy, maize, and pulses.
