Monsoon Withdraws from Mumbai

Rain withdrawal in Maharashtra

The southwest monsoon has withdrawn from large parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai and Nagpur, earlier than usual.

The withdrawal line currently passes through Brahmapuri, Parbhani, Baramati and south of Mumbai, with the remaining parts of the state likely to see withdrawal soon.

Maharashtra ended the June–September monsoon season with 804.4 mm of rainfall, around 19% below normal.

Marathwada recorded the highest deficit at 39%, followed by Vidarbha at 27%. Konkan and Goa saw a 15% shortfall, while Madhya Maharashtra recorded a smaller deficit of 7%.

October has remained largely dry so far, and significant rainfall is unlikely during the next 7–10 days. With no major post-monsoon weather systems expected, dry conditions could continue across Maharashtra through mid-October.
