Mumbai Records One of Its Mildest Winters

Temperatures rising in Mumbai

Mumbai has experienced an unusually comfortable winter this season, with no significant cold spells so far.

The lowest minimum temperature recorded was 15.9°C on 19 January 2026, making it the warmest winter minimum since January 2015.

In contrast, the city had seen sharper dips below 12°C in January 2017 and 2020. This month, Mumbai crossed the 20°C mark on four occasions, with today’s minimum of 22.6°C being the highest so far and 5.5°C above normal.

Daytime temperatures have mostly stayed above 30°C, touching 31.4°C recently.

The absence of cold northerly winds, due to persistent western disturbances and a displaced anticyclone, has kept conditions warm and humid. Similar weather is expected to continue through January.
