Mumbai Waits as Monsoon Takes a Break

Rains in Mumbai take a pause.

Mumbai is witnessing a monsoon pause, with no significant rainfall in the last 10 days.

After moderate showers between 20th–25th July, August has started dry, recording only 9.5 mm of rain so far. This is strikingly low for August, typically the second rainiest month with a normal of 585.2 mm.

Currently, break-in-monsoon conditions prevail across India, keeping rain clouds away from Mumbai. Key weather drivers like the off-shore trough and Bay of Bengal systems are missing.

However, hope rises as a cyclonic circulation is expected over the Northwest Bay by 11–12 August, possibly leading to a low-pressure system.

Rain may return mid-month. Until then, warm and sultry weather continues.
