North India to Get Rain

Relief for farmers is on the wayRelief for farmers is on the way this week!

Northwest India has been facing an unusual heatwave, with Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Madhya Pradesh experiencing persistently high temperatures.

A major reason behind this prolonged warmth is a severe rainfall deficit—India has received 71% less rainfall than normal since January 1.

Limited snowfall in the Western Himalayas has also worsened the situation, reducing the cooling effect usually provided by snow.

This has led to rising concerns for residents and farmers, affecting winter crops and water availability.

However, relief is on the way! A fresh Western Disturbance has reached the Western Himalayas, bringing light rain to parts of Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh from February 17.

The intensity will increase on February 19 and 20, with North Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and even Northeast India expecting moderate rain and thunderstorms.

Delhi, West Bengal, and Odisha may also see some showers. While this rain may not fully make up for the shortfall, it will provide much-needed relief from the heat and improve soil moisture for crops.
