Solar Eclipse to Mark February Sky

A total lunar eclipse is seen over Victoria, turning the Moon a deep red.

February 2026 will be special for skywatchers as two major astronomical events will occur this month.

On February 17, an annular solar eclipse will take place. In this type of eclipse, the Moon appears smaller and does not fully cover the Sun, creating a bright “Ring of Fire.”

However, this eclipse will mainly be visible over Antarctica, with partial views in parts of South America and Africa. It will not be visible in India.

Around February 28, a rare planet parade will peak. Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune will appear aligned after sunset.

Some planets will be visible to the naked eye, while others may need binoculars. These events have no impact on India’s weather.
