As we head into the third week of December, Mumbai is experiencing warmer temperatures, around 20 degrees, which is 2 to 3 degrees higher than usual.

This warmer weather is expected to continue for the next 4 to 5 days. The wind patterns from the Southeast Arabian Sea to North Konkan and Goa are bringing warmer winds from the southeast direction to Mumbai and nearby areas, preventing a significant temperature drop.

However, around December 18 to 20, there may be a brief change in wind direction, bringing cooler winds from the northeast and causing a temporary 2 to 3-degree decrease.

Although this cooling period will be short-lived, as temperatures are likely to rise again afterward. The delay in experiencing winter chill in Mumbai and nearby regions is due to the absence of persistent cold winds from the north, which are essential for temperature drops in west Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

Additionally, the limited snowfall over the Western Himalayas is contributing to the delay, with no active Western disturbance causing heavy snowfall expected for another 10 days.
