Rain in Punjab
Winter Rain Forecast for Farmers

Northern plains, including Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, are set to receive winter rains, especially on January 11.

However, most of Punjab may see minimal rainfall, except for light showers in areas like Pathankot and parts of Malwa bordering Haryana.

A weak western disturbance will bring limited snowfall in Kashmir, with Uttarakhand benefiting the most. After this, a dry spell is expected for at least a week.

The rains are a welcome relief for rabi crops like wheat and mustard, which have faced a dry spell since October.

Light rains can boost the growth stage of wheat and may save an irrigation cycle. As of December 20, wheat has been sown on 31.22 million hectares matching the five-year average.

Farmers are advised to monitor weather updates closely and ensure proper drainage in case of excess rain to avoid crop damage.
