Ramakkalmedu in Kerala is definitely one of the windiest places in Asia and by far the windiest in India. The wind is constant here and blows with a speed of ca. 35 km/hour throughout the year. The destination is often also called the land of wind!

This hill station is situated on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu and is home to the second wind farm in Kerala with a capacity of 12.5 MW. The potential for more electricity generation for the state has not been explored so far and the farms today are kept as private holdings.
