After a brief lull, heavy rainfall is expected to return to Kerala from August 7 to August 9, increasing the risk of flooding and waterlogging across several districts.

Recent heavy rain has already inundated roads, submerged homes and disrupted normal life, with Kottayam among the worst-affected districts where thousands of people have been moved to relief camps.

The ongoing wet spell is being driven by strong moisture-laden westerly winds from the Arabian Sea rather than a monsoon depression.

Although rainfall eased slightly over the past day, Kerala remains below its seasonal rainfall average. Weather conditions are likely to improve from August 10, with rainfall expected to reduce significantly across most parts of the state.
