Cyclone Michaung, originating in the Bay of Bengal on December 3rd, wreaked havoc in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, triggering crucial coastal alerts and evacuations.

The aftermath showcased a concerted effort, with 29 NDRF teams engaging in relief operations across affected states. Regrettably, a dozen lives were lost in rain-related incidents near Chennai, while 11 individuals sustained injuries.

Responding to the crisis, 236 relief camps emerged in Tamil Nadu, providing refuge and essentials to around 9,634 residents. Fishing boats and tractors metamorphosed into rescue vehicles, navigating flooded terrain to aid stranded communities.

Michaung's impact emphasized the paramount importance of preparedness and rapid response in minimizing the repercussions on vulnerable populations.
