Thick Smog Chokes Delhi, Air Quality Deteriorates

Delhi wakes up to a blanket of smog after diwali celebrations

Two days after Diwali, Delhi continues to reel under thick smog and worsening air quality.

The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) remains in the “very poor” category, with several areas recording levels above 350.

Calm winds and low temperatures have trapped pollutants near the surface, causing poor visibility across the capital.

Residents woke up to hazy skies and a strong smell of smoke as emissions from firecrackers, vehicles, and stubble burning added to the pollution load.

Health experts have advised people to stay indoors, wear masks, and avoid outdoor exercise.

Authorities are monitoring the situation under GRAP Stage 3 measures to curb further pollution buildup in the city.
