Western Disturbance to End Dry Spell

Western disturbance brings fresh snowfall to the himalayan region

After weeks of barren mountains and dry plains, a major change in winter weather is finally in sight.

Snowfall has remained far below normal this season, and large parts of the plains are facing a winter rain deficit.

Relief is now expected as an active western disturbance approaches the Western Himalayas late tonight.

An induced cyclonic circulation over north Rajasthan will support the system, aided by good moisture flow.

Widespread snowfall is likely across Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, while rain and thundershowers will spread over Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh on January 22 and 23.

Delhi may receive light rainfall. Heavy snow could disrupt road, rail and air travel in hilly states. Another similar system may arrive around January 27–28, keeping wintry conditions active.
